I got a couple of Jack Dempseys to go with big Vader. At first he chased them around for a whie, now he could care less. I did two Jacks to lessen the stress on the new guys tell my oscar would let it work or not, and so far it is. I only have a 75 gallon and I know with the two jacks and oscar it is very overstocked. I plan to take one jack back to the pet store, when I am sure the oscar is surley ok with his tank mate. Unless you all think it will work. I do 50% water changes twice a week. Let my know your thought on this please.

Hey Brad,
Watch your water levels carefully. That is overstocked. Maybe 1 Oscar and 1 Jack would make it in that size tank but I'm thinking that too might be cutting it close. I have 120 gallon tank with 2 Oscars, 1 Jack and a Pleco. Granted the pleco is a poop factory but I still have to carefully watch the levels. Make sure that you have a good weekly routine. I check my levels on Wednesdays and Saturdays and do my water changes every Sunday. That has kept my tank happy.

As for the Jack, congrats on getting him. It took a few days for mine to get use to the Jack but they all have their little space in the tank and usually we have no problems. I would just pick a Jack to keep and take the other back now. Mainly because of the water levels. But also for the sake of the fish - they don't take well to changes like that some times - fish coming/going in the tank. It can be stressful for them.

Just my 2 cents.... don't forget the pics when they are all settled in!

in that samll of a tank
even if you can keep ur levels in check you may run into agrression problem
say the oscar likes 1 JD but not the other so you take the other JD back to the pet store now the other JD becomes the target fish!! or it could be switched JD takes agression out on oscar! not enough fish to spred around the agression!
hoped that made seence
thats why a bigger tank is always better!
but hay you never no till you try

I apologise. Earlier today my wife was on here saying we got some jacks that work. I am afriad that she was mistaken. I believe they are blue acara. I tried to get a pic of both of them but there quick. Hope this helps, so I can tell my wife thats what they are.

Its difficult to tell from those pics as they wont enlarge but they do like a bit like blue acaras. Can you post better pics and also some the side on to make sure they are not green terrors

Im going with JD's now. Blue acaras have more blue under the eye

There is a lot of confusion with young blue acaras and green terror, and sometimes JD's get confused too

You will soon know once they start growing!!!!

I'm going with a Jack too... I could be wrong but I thought the Jack's primarily had the black dot at their tale and the Blue Acara's had the black dot in the middle. Or is that too simple??
