alright, i'm setting up my tank once again at my new place, my old setup consisted of 2 8'' o's a pike that was 8'' a green terror that was 7'' 2 firemouths at 5'' and a huuuuuge pleco. the oscars, terror, and pike all swam around freely like oscars would normally. they would follow u across the room and open there mouth at you like the oscars begging for food. they got along extremly well. i feel like the pike and terror thought they were oscars. the firemouths didnt bother any1 they werent a pair and hid in separate caves only coming out to feed. i had a dempsy that was the same size as the o's but i ended up moving him out because he got too aggressive. i gave the fish away when i moved and im starting from scratch now.

currently, i have 2 baby firemouths in the tank for the sole reason that they were a dollar each and i wanted to get something in the tank. i have another tank that i could move the firemouths to if needed. i kinda want to go with a simular setup but at the same time i want something different. oscars of coarse are a necessity for the tank. they are entertaining and hardy fish. any ideas?

personally i like Jack Dempseys but they get aggressive with Os, so i would suggest Clown Loach; they r cool.
100 US Gallon Tank - 1 Tiger Oscar (Tiger);
1 Common Pleco

30 Gallon Tank - 4 Angels (1 Veil Tail, 1 Albino, 2 Marble)

That is quite a lot of fish, some of them I wouldn't mix personally. Importantly, how big is the tank you intend on getting? you will need a sizeable tank for all those fish. There are absolutely loads of tank mates to choose from, everybody has their own personal preference. I certainly wouldn't have a green terror and I wouldn't have a huge pleco.

My tank consists of silver dollars, Eartheaters, a Leporinus, couple of Severums, two blue acara and of course the two Oscars. Apart from one of the acara being a little bossy towards the Eartheaters, everybody gets on just fine, I would consider this to be the perfect mixture of fish. Apart from what I've already mentioned, there is no aggression, they all come from the same part of the world and are doing really well in my 300 gallon tank.
I may not always be right, but I am always the boss

all those fish were in a 125 gallon tank. witch is what i currently have and im not planning on going any bigger. filtration is not a problem at all. the fish got along very nicely and the water was always crystal clear. the terror was a tad smaller then the oscars and never bothered them. i hear a lot of people saying terrors will end up killing oscars but with my experience they swam together and were perfect tank mates.

i've had silver dollars with oscars b4 and the oscars killed them. ill look into what u got and i was also thinking of the clown. they are pretty cool.

my other tank has 2 dempseys in it. ones 10'' and the others about 4''. they both got too aggressive for my oscars so they ended up in another tank.

i have a blood red parrot w/ my 2 oscars & the parrot hides in a cave most of the time but when he does come out it will swim right beside my tiger oscar & the oscar doesnt pay it any attn.

i have always wanted to get a leporinus & that will be one of my first additions when i get a larger tank

Crystal clear water doesnt mean good water. You should test your water regular to make sure there is no ammonia or nitrite and that nitrate is at a low enough level, ideally below 20 but below 40 is acceptable

the water was of coarse tested, and fish rarely died in the years ive had the tank. i got lepporinus hes pretty awesome. didnt find oscars small enough though. if not, ill wait till they grow so no biggie. i saw a whole bunch of multi colored parrots they were real cool lookin but they all sold out within 2 days. otherwise i would got 1.

i really want to stay away from pairs. ive had a pair of convicts in my other tank that spawned and they pecked at everything.

i added in 2 oscars and an angle cat. lots of aggression goin on in the tank. the oscars fight each other. the 1 slightly larger firemouth chases the other all around the tank and attacks the oscars and leporinus. the main thing im worried about though is the oscars eating the leporinus. they are about the same length but the o's are of coarse thicker. as of now the leporinus is much quicker then the slow stupid o's. im hopin the fish get used to each other as time progresses.

minus the aggression going on, the tanks lookin real good

If the leporinus wont fit in the oscars mouth then it will be ok. If he would fit in the mouth then you and he is in trouble
