TOPIC: Tank size

Tank size 1 year, 8 months ago #111625

Hey i was just thinking because i have such limited space can i get a 15 high tank instead of a long or standard? Or do they need that extra length? And either the BP or Ob peacock would go in there.

length and width = surface area. its the surface area that allows the oxygen to enter the tank. the more surface area you have the better. small surface area means small fish only can be kepted (

in my place, any tank that have a 3 ft long will always have at least
18 inches high.... 12 inches high is normally intended for a two footer
tank only....

a wider lateral surface area for swimming is always an advantage...
i can only concur with marcus...

marcus is spot on. You can have more fish in a 4 x 2 x 1 (LWH) than you can in 4 x 1 x 2 due the higher surface area in the 1st case

longer and shorter is better
I have no idea why the water bill is so high

Okay just wanted to check first that would of been easier maybe i could get a 30 high and tell my dad its only a 15 then the one fish (or two) i put in there would have more room. Or would that not even be good enough.
