hi, well, i have a pleco and 3 oscars. the oscars are tiny now, about 1 inch. or 2. i know plecos get huge as well but i just would like to know if its ok for a pleco to be in a tankw/ 3 oscars that are fully grown, of course, the pleco will be fully grown as well.

What sort of pleco is it? not all of them get huge. Some only reach 5 inches, some get to 8 inches, and some can reach 2 feet. However, if yours is one of the cheap ones such as the common, or a sail fin then you have got one of the big buggers. Bristlenose catfish, also a pleco don't get very big. So you need to find out what you've got.

You have to bear in mind that you've also got three Oscars. Yes, there is nothing wrong with keeping these fish together, however, you need the tank size which will need to be very big for these type of fish. You're talking over 200 gallons for all the fish you've got (if it is one of the big pleco's) I personally don't like those big plecoS. They are incredibly messy and just make more work for you. Most people buy them to clean up algae, I think this is totally defeating the object. Okay, they might eat the algae, but they leave one heck of a lot of mess behind that somebody has to clean up.

Opinion on plecs is divided, mostly into those who dont like to have them and me. I think they are great, yes they are messy and will up your need for water changes and gravel cleaning, however i think they look great and they do keep the tank clean. My biggest one is about 10 inches so i may change my opinion when/if it gets really big

It really depends on tank size and the kind of pleco as they said. I have a bristlenose and they seem to get on... well acctually the pleco just does his own thing and the Oscars ignore him.

I have some bad news for you, you will need to get the new tank sooner than when the oscars get to 10 inches. I would start doing something about it now. They will grow an inch a month. Get yourself a test kit (the liquid ones) and test weekly. Ammonia and nitrite should be zero and nitrate be below 40 but ideally below 20. If you find your start getting a result for ammonia or nitrite (i am assuming you have cycled your tank and it has been running for at least 6 to 8 weeks) then you will need more filtration. If your nitrate goes above 40 then you are not doing enough water changes and you will need to do more/bigger changes. Once all your fish get big you will be water changes every other day or maybe daily. To put it bluntly you will have far far too many fish in too small a tank
