So when my EBJD died I broke down and got a silver arowana. I know I'm a horrible person for putting an arowana and and 2 oscars in a 125 together. But hopefully I will be upgrading the tank to something bigger within the next year or so, at least a 150, and hopefully even upwards of a 180.

I just wanted to share my new fish. He is really cool (my first arowana) and I've been feeding him the occasional hikari gold pellet (he doesn't like them very much) and mostly freeze-dried krill. When he eats he kind of curls back a little bit and strikes at it almost like a snake

When I first put him in he got his ass kicked by my 2 oscars, they almost killed him so I had to put a divider up and now I am feeding the arowana to try to get him to grow while the oscars are on a moderate diet lol.

What's the footprint of your current tank?
i know Paul, Marcus and some other arowana owners will tell you the growtrate of their fish, and i think they can match the oscars growthrate, if i'm correct.

Better look for that big @$$ tank real soon.
i'd say get at least a 180, you'll need it to give the arowana some swimming space.
6Foot is not too much for a long fish like that, allthough they can turn very smoothly.

I had a disaster with mixing oscar and arow and lost my oscar that was 6-7 yr old ((

silver grow fast, ask Paul ) in a small tank with 2 other large fish you better keep a good flow or gill curl may prove to become a problem. keep an eye on the gill, if heavy breathing get some more flow going. not to fussy I hope large prawn works well.

Noddy, the arowana's growth rate can even exceed the oscars especially if he is fed more.

And like I said I will be getting a 150 AT LEAST by the end of next summer. As for anything bigger, we will have to wait and see what my financial situation will be lol. The nice thing about the 150 is that it has the same footprint as the 125 so I wouldn't need a new stand and hood, but the disadvantage is just that, it's the same footprint and the same area for the aro to swim.
