I just wanted to know but im guessing not a good pairing does anyone know whether ghost koi would be suitable Oscar mates? I see there are a lot of gold fish posts.
I brought two ghost koi but i am guessing they will soon outgrow my goldfish tank as it is smaller than my oscar tank. If a bad idea than they are going in pond but it was just a thought crossing my mind. I know they are recommended in cooler tanks but they can be in warmer tanks aswell and it seems a shame to put such a nice looking fish into a pond where they are not appreciated enough.

any knowledge is good; im guessing filter issues will factor as they are both quite dirty fish.

i started out in the hobby with carp, including ghost koi, that were offspring from my friend koi.
but they outgrew my 180Gl within a year ,passing the 12 ".
I found that the carp do need excessive swimmingspace and an aquarium will not provide them with that space.
plus O's are very laidback fish compared to koi.
here a vid of my carp, and you should check the activity on these fish.
they never stayed in one place.

a good filter will cope with the bioload easily, and koi do clean the gravel very thoroughly, but it's an ill adviced combo.
the o's will get stressed by the koi's constant movement.

i rehomed all of the goldfish and koi to my friend pond, and they have grown to incredible sizes allready.
please give your O's their own tank, they'll be thankfull for that!
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!

Having fished for carp on and off for over 30 years I would never keep these fish in an aquarium unless it was a real monster aquarium. Carp have the potential to get very big indeed and they really do not belong in aquariums, they are fish that should be kept in large ponds or lakes.

thanks for advice i thought as much but thought i would ask. no worries they will be going into pond after winter; at the moment they are only an inch big and i think it would be a little harsh to put them out for this winter although they were outside when i brought them.
