I have noticed that quite a few people on site seem to have these with their oscars; I always thought they were not a good mix? Does it depend on tank size. I dont think Ill get one now because my oscars are 2years old now and Im having to sort their situation out first before thinking about more fish. But when I looked into buying fish I was told they would fight too much.

Can parrots make good tank mates? As I really like them aswell.

I got no personal expierience with the combo, but it has worked out for some members.
If you have plenty of room for them it may work out fine.
Just take care you got a backup plan in case the fish do not get along.
The oscars may get territorial with any added tankmates.
Only you can judge if it's gonna work out fine.
If you got aggressive o's to begin with, you may be looking at fights, even to the death.
Parrots are known to be fin nippers and oscars may not be too gentle if they are getting "nipped".
but i'm sure some other expierienced members may have some more input for you.

I have a tank with 2 oscars and one parrot right now. Parrots are more territorial then oscars are. They will claim a spot in the tank for JUST THEM. They will also try to shew other fish out of their area.

There isn't any real damage that a BP can do to an oscar. My oscars ignore all the other fish in my tank. I have docile oscars tho.

I am wrestling around in my head right now, whether I want more fish in the new tank, and if so which. More blood parrots are on the short list. They are fun.

I do love their character and I think if Im moving Shinji to a new tank then possibly I might get a parrot to put in Auski's tank but all depends on how they get on. My father in law has a way over stocked tank which has silver sharks, parrots angels and SD all quite big now but all seem quite happy together. But like you say it depends on the fish and space.

I am really new to owning Oscars and BP but we have one of each in the tank and the Parrot is far more territorial then the oscar but they get along great they swim side by side and hover close to each other when i do water changes etc. only time the BP gets aggressive is when we have our tree in there, the top is his and he will bit any who invade, we also have 2 pleco's in the tank, they all get along great

No believe it or not blood Red parrots can kill oscar fish, my cousin had a BP with a oscar and the oscar died but she didn't know why. So she decieded to get 2 for the tank. But the BP killed them both. But of course she might have just gotten a really aggresive one because sometimes it works out fine. But i wouldn't risk it.
