I didn't know what forum to put this in so i decided here. I have an oscar and a blood parrot. now the oscar will come out and up to edge of tank for food ect. the blood parrot just seems really really skiddish and just hides behind stuff and hardly comes out and if he is out and you approach the tank he darts away and hides. My question is are there any way to help them acclimate to human interaction without stressing them, i don't want to stress them at all.

thanks

Marc

It has been said on this forum by various posters than parrots hide a lot when small. Hopefully someone who has kept one will chime in, i know marcus has one

I havent had parrots before but my father-in-law keeps them and they seem to stick to one place in the tank and make it their home. Like cave guarding. His are quite tame now but when he gets a new one they are nervous and he talks to the tank when he feeds them so they get associated to humans and food. I'm sure once he is bigger he will be more curious and confident.
I'm living my life, but not necessarily in the right order

i don't have expierience with parrots, but sitting close to the tank and talking to my fish seems to make them recognize me and accept me as their keeper.
works for most fish, allthough some have the tendency to stay shy and skittish...
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!

parrots are 1/2 Red Devil Cichlid, and that half I have a decent amount of experience with. RDs hide a lot while they are younger, then as they mature their aggression, hunger, and curiousity bring them out to interact with humans.

So, first off make sure your waterquality is good. then just give your parrots time to warm up to you and other humans.

good luck
