Well yesterday I looked over at my tank and my arowana was semi-floating. He was still alive but not doing well. Kind of floating around. Anyway I ran to the pet store and since the only thing I could think could be wrong was maybe he was sick. The water chemistry was fine
Am. 0
Nitrite. 0
nitrate. 10
ph I don't remember but it was in the acceptable range.

So thinking he was probably sick I treated the tank with clout. Unfortunately it was too late and he didn't make it through the night so I will go home and remove the medicine with carbon.

He had been acting a little weird lately, not eating a whole lot, but I didn't think much of it because I had just moved him in the tank. I figured he was just stressed.

how big was it? moving an aro can stress it to death... have you notice
the constant yawning act... opening the mouth too wide? that is the normal
sign for stressed or injured aro...

sorry for the loss... i lost one too a few months back...

No he didn't yawn. But he kept like swallowing, but the was nothing to swallow.
He was maybe 6 or 7 inches.

sorry for your loss, it sucks to lose a fish with such big potential.
are you gonna restock?
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!

I don't know. If I re-stock with another arowana then it will have to be a large one, to avoid the agression problems I had before. The problem here is that large arowanas are expensive. If I don't get another arowana I may get some dithers just to add some life to the tank. Or I may just leave the 2 Os alone. For now I'm going to focus on getting the small Oscar to grow bigger than the bigger Oscar. Then once the agression between them is under control I can decide what to do.

sorry to hear you lost your arow. They are not as hardy as oscars when it come to moving. When I purchased mine I was very worried about getting it home and settled. the shop would not take any responsibility once it left (. water changes can even upset the arow, and any change in temp is a big NO NO. my guess it would have been the move rather than illness but thats just guess. did you use a stress coat on moving?
