Hey guys, Im trying to setup a 75 gallon oscar tank and I want gold severums but when I look them up, I get a variety of tank sizes. Originally I was going to get 2 when I saw that they grew to 8in. But then I saw a website that said 12, 13, 10 and so on. I wanna know how big do these guys get? I really want to get two sevs for my tank!

Severums can reach 12 inches. Unfortunately you won't have room in a 75 gallon tank for Severums and Oscars.

what if I get a 90. Do you think that would fit the oscar and two sevs? If not what other smaller cichlids could I add with my oscar in a 75? I was thinking convicts or firemouths?

unfortunately not, 90 gallons isn't really big enough either. If you get two Severums and they are male and female, the chances are they'll pair off and start breeding. Even though I wouldn't class Severums as aggressive, they can be quite defensive when they have eggs, 90 gallons wouldn't really give the fish enough room to avoid each other, the Severums will probably get extremely stressed with the Oscar there. You will probably be okay with around 130 gallons and very good filtration.

You got a little bit careful with cichlids, mixing them can lead to aggression problems. If you want a couple of cichlids to go with your Oscar, see if you can find some Jade eyed cichlids. These lovely little nonaggressive cichlids come from Central America and are quite delightful.they don't get much bigger than 6 inches.

What if I just get one severum and one oscar for the 75 is that alright. Of course there would be a few pictus cats too. Maybe even a two or three firemouths. And don't worry about them breeding,I have many seperate tanks that I could breed them in.

unfortunatly a 75 is really only big enough for one oscar for life. you can still go with a couple of small fish like firemouths and maybe a pictus or 2 but that will be th extent of it. your only other option is to get a bigger tank maybe in the 110 range then you can go with a sev
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!
