I would advise you not to mix Africans and American fish, the ph that these fish should be kept in are completely different. South American Cichlid's prefer a very low pH, between six and seven, where as African cichlids like it at the other end of the scale, sometimes higher than nine sometimes, but not often below eight. Frontosa are stunningly beautiful fish so I can see why you want one. If you want Oscars, try to find tank mates that come from the same area of water if you can. believe me, there are some equally beautiful fish living in the Amazonian region of South America

there are thousands of fish from South America, it'll be easy for you to do your own research on Google.

The tank you are talking about is quite big, plenty big enough for two Oscars and a few nice tank mates. I have a 300 gallon tank with silver dollars, a couple of severums, some earth eater, blue acara and a leporinus. All of these fish come from South America and make excellent tank mates with your Oscar

okay, you are giving him 10 2inch Oscars, is this correct? The growth rate is around 1 inch months in the first year. If the Oscars are 2 inches now, they could be 7 inches by Christmas if after properly.

the feed you mentioned sounds great, all good healthy stuff.

But like I said, 72" x 24" x 24" is not big enough for 10 Oscars. That will be a lovely tank for two Oscars and a number of nice tank mates. or you could probably get away with four Oscars with really good filtration and regular water changes.

Thank u very much sorry for troubling u in getting the answer within few minutes if the same cement tank size is given for frontosa with the same 2inch size around 1 nos hve the same feeding receipe given above what would be the growth rate of the burundi frontosa which my frnd is going to buy frm the LFS
sorry i knw that u are oscar expert may be i would request u to go out of the way and help me as in india people lack the basic knowledge of keeping fronts that is why i am relying on the international fish site to get better knowledge and equip myself and educate my frnds on these matter

I have never kept frontosa before so I couldn't possibly comment on their growth rates. Do you know what your pH is from the tap water?

I live in a hard water area and the Ph is quite high. I keep a frontosa with an oscar and they get on fine, although the frontosa is still small (bout 6 inches) and so not mature. If you get more than one, one will be dominant and the others will hide away all the time. They tend to leave other fish alone
