saved this guy from impending doom .. cant figure out what it is though. any help would be great. its always pickin on the o's ... gutsy whaqtever it is

I guess you could try to ID it on cichlid-forum or Mbuna madness... just a thought.

Red Devil, Amphilophus labiatus, or Midas, Amphilophus cintrinellus, from the looks of it. Will grow up to be a real brute, one of the more aggressive cichlids. Not compatible with an oscar in the long-term.

red devil for sure and they should only be kept alone as they are one of the most agressive fish that you will find they grow to around 14inches and if its a male will get a large lump on its head simular to a frontosa. i had a small one of thease with a large oscar and i had to take it out within a week as it was giving the oscar a hiding. make sure you dont put them togerther or you will most likley loose your oscar.

for such a cute fish it sound pretty evil lol
