if you have a 100 gallon tank and 2 oscars you could try a sev and a mid seized pleco, maybe a jack dempsey (if you dont get a psycho one) or a small school of silver dollars.

for one oscar the list of mates is long. personally i like the look of texas cichlids, or chocolats, firemouths it all depends on your personal prefrences

i find whatever you get a mid seized catfish is alway a nice addition to a tank

the biggest thing is not to overstock your tank. keep in mind that eventhough a fish looks small in the tank they do grow. try to imagine how full the tank will be with all the stock at maturity

I was leaning towards 2 O's and a school of SD's of around 4 or 5 with a plec.

yeh will research that one deeply before purchasing, my dad had one that was a monster was around 20" so prob still had good few inches to go.

Is a Red Tail Black shark too aggressive for this kinda tank? i was thinking of dropping a SD for one of them.

yes they can be quite aggresive to your tankmates of choice i have a 3 inch oscar in with a 6 inch green severum i love him hes calm always swimming and a joy to watch i also have a hybrid of a redtail cat, and a shovel nose cat, any bottom dwelling cat will be great i would stay away from the pleco there messy and get to big

if you the Epalzeorhynchos bicolor or redtail shark you should have no problem with one a a tankmate for your oscars. i have a rainbow shark (cousin to the red tail)in my oscar tank and no one bothers with him at all. i put him in there because of his dark colour and red finage and i find he makes a nice addition to the tank.

just make sure he is not to small as to be eaten by the oscars

I kept a pair of Nicaraguan cichlids with Oscars they are a beautiful fish when fully grown and even spawned in a coffee jar i put in the tank. I ended up with 100 little ones to sell. They are seldom seen in the shops and ths is a shame as they are fantastic fish.

Decided on tank mates,

not sure still as to get 1 or 2 Oscars, but tank will be

1/2 Oscars
1Plec
4/5 Silver Dollars
3/4/5 Clown Loaches

Noticed Local Aquatics center had some 3/4" Clown Loaches in stock would these have enough head start to deter oscar/s from eating them whilst growing. They do take a while to grow big the Clowns
