well i just got 2 silver dollars about 2 to 3 inches in my tank what great fish my severum and my oscar get along great with them thinkin of getting 1 or 2 more anyone else have them

I would get at least three more so you have a school of five, which is usually recommended as the minimum size shoal.

I have a school of nine, but they are juveniles at one to one and half inch. They are great tankmates for Oscars. I am raising them in a separate tank since so they don't become a snack.

That's good Joedodge that your Silver dollars are doing well with the Severum and Oscar.I agree with Pepej that buy a few more Silver Dollars to make a good size school of them so there's enough size on each fish in the tank.
Where I live there's a Fish store that has Silver Dollars around 5-7inches big and some Pacu's too.I will be buying some Severums's that are about 7inches big here soon.There lady has them at a very great cheap price about $10 bucks a Severum and the Silver and Pacu's going at about $7 each or bough in bulk more than 3 at $2 a piece...

Whatever you do please don't purchase Pacus unless you have a huge pond. Pacu fish grows easily to 36" long.

i agree i made this mistake my pacus got huge and i had to trade them in there to rough on tankequipment also i got two more silver dollars from the same store yesterday so i have a total of 4 now around 2 inches or a lil more i hope they ok as my oscar is 4 inches now

you should be fine with the sd's. now not all oscar are the same but i have 2 convict hybrids living with my breeding pair of oscars and they have been in the tank for about 6 months now and i have yet to have a problem. oh ya my o's are around the 11 inch mark and the hybrids are about 2 inches in lengh.

wow thats amazing they get along thats very cool they will breed in the tank with the oscars there

since they are part convict they have no problem breeding anywhere. in case you werent aware convicts breed like rabbits. and these guys lay eggs every 21 days like clockwork
