ive been fairly fortunate when it come to aggression in my tanks. when i first got my jags i knew that they would become a hazzard to my o's so as soon as they reached 4 inches in lengh i rehomed them into their own tank without any mates. this was planned for and i set myself up to deal with it.
unplanned aggression however is a different matter that i only ran into twice(for now) in my tanks. again, fortunetly, the aggression was only focused on one fish and not the entire tank. the first was with my jack dempsey constantly attacking my albino tiger. since i have 2 fairly large tanks it was just a matter of redistributing the fish stock i have an seperate the 2.
the second time it was male dominace thing between my year old red oscar and my 20 month old male tiger. again just redistributing the load solved this for me. i do know from friends that some fish are, for lack of a better term, born bad and will torment and even at times kill their tankmates. the only cure for this is to rehome the aggressor to his own tank or to someone else who has the room for them. unfortunatly their is no sure fire way to eleviate this.
the only thing i can think of is what pepe has suggested and redeorate your tank, try to break up lines of sight with plants or decorations and add the aggressor last. hopefully this will work.
good luck with your sev
