Hi there!! im just curious if i can add another oscar in my 110gal tank wherein i already have 5Silver dollars and 1 7inch oscar. my filtration is a canister filter with a 425gal/hr rating. tnx so much....

with your fish load you should have no problem adding another oscar to your setup. you seem to have enough room and filtration to handle one more oscar.

personally, I would not add another Oscar. the silver dollars can reach 6 inches easily, the Oscar 12 inches. You only have one canister filter, I don't think that's enough filtration for yet another Oscar. I am basing this advice on the fact that I've got a 125 gallon tank with two Oscars and four clown loach. I run two Eheim 2028 external filters and a nitrate levels approac 40 at the end of seven days.I don't think your tank would cope with an extra Oscar.

my honest opinion is you can have one more O if you get another external filter with minimum output of about 1200lph and do a 30-40% waterchange weekly...if when they grow bigger if your bioload is to great and maintinence/waterchanges drop below once a week ..say every 3 days rehome some sd,s...........they are not so much fun as OSCARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!but if you cope ok keep them !!!!!!!

Sorry, we've probably totally confused you by giving you conflicting answers. Adding extra filtration will certainly help. You can't have too much filtration with Oscars. I must add that my advice is only based on my opinion. Regarding your tank, are we talking US gallons? Because if we are, 110 gallons is smaller than 110 gallons UK. If you want other Oscar, get one and keep a very close eye on the water conditions once the Oscar reaches adulthood. The extra filtration should help deal with the extra waste. It's just the nitrate that may build up quicker.

sorry thats a "my bad". when i read the post originally i thought it said 150 gallon not 110. a 110 us gallon tank is just a little too small to add another oscar into the mix. sorry for any confusion i might have started.
