Hello everyone here. I'm used to keeping Oscars, Silver Dollars and Jack Dempsey's but i've just been donated a new fish which for the life of me i don't know what it is?. Can someone help identify what it is. What's happened is a friend of mines relative has died and he was really into his fish keeping. All his fish are been given to local aquarium stores but i was asked if i wanted any before they went. Well when i got there earlier today there was only one left...This beauty!. I've put it into a temporary tank until i find out what it is and if i'm able to put it in with my Oscar?. Plus after i've recently posted my fish have been sick and i'm apprehensive about doing anything at the moment. She or He is a big fish and looks in good health so please can someone help me here?

it is a flowerhorn crossbreed. anice fish too but solitary one.

nope. they will kill each other. flowerhorn is notorious aggressive fish.
they will establish dominance and will kill any one that comes along their
way. that is why if you have limited space, they are raise alone. but
honestly, flowerhorn is a nice and expensive breed.

as they grow up, they will have big lump on their head. your fish
had been in the small tank for quite a while, distorted body
contour. once have good tank size, he/she should recover soon

looks to me like a trimac hybrid of some kind. gorgeous fish but not at all suitable with an oscar.

Then i'm left in a position i don't like. I love all fish to some extent and been given this makes me want to rush out and get another tank but my overdraft is beyond that so i'll have to donate him and i hate doing that as i would loved to of kept him for myself. Oh well i've still got my Oscars:)

that fish is a FLOWERHORN PARROT CROSSBREED HYBRID and can be kept with your oscars and other cichlids if you look closely it has inherited the parrots head jaw and body shape ......the jaw deformity from the parrot prevents this fish from closing its mouth completely so eliminating the ability to bite....also the parrot genes will greatly reduce the agression from the flowerhorn!!!!!!!!!!!!! NICE FISH

Ok thanks to everyone for there thoughts on this fish. Wow it's so surprising to see what people think it is. There are 2 topics on this by mistake?. This one is the one i posted the pic with and i asked Paul if he'd delete the other topic but it's still there. I'm not too bothered but it's sort of making people post in two different places:S Can someone delete the other topic so we can concentrated on this one please folks?. Anyway i'm glad for all the feedback and i've decided to send my overdraft soaring by buying another tank for the new fish:P
