Until you try it, you really don't know whether it will work.

However, angelfish are not the best tank mates. They could become damaged quickly if the Oscar was rough. They are also not the sort of fish that would be very good at hiding away from the Oscar. Try and choose fish that won't get damaged too easily, angelfish are quite delicate.

I agree with oscarfishlover. Some oscars wouldnt bother an angel at all but then some will. When it comes to cichlids all fish are different. If you really want to keep an angel with an oscar try it and see what happens. But remember that oscars grow quicker than angels so you wanna get at least a half decent angel to go with a small oscar. Personally i would pick a fish that is less at risk from a big oscar throwing his weight around

If it was me, I wouldn't put an angelfish in with an Oscar. They are just too delicate, an Oscar would damage one so easily, even if he wasn't being aggressive towards it. Also, it would have a hard time competing for food as well. Oscars eat anything you put in the tank, it doesn't matter whether it floats or sinks, the Oscars will eat it and they don't care about any other fish, as long as they fill their mouths, all the other fish can starve to death. My Jade eyed Cichlid really does find it difficult competing with the Oscars. It's a good job I feed bloodworm to the clown Loach, he does get a good feed then because there are so many individual pieces.

Remember that clown Loach like to be in groups. If you've ever seen them together, you will know exactly what I'm talking about. Keeping them on their own could be very stressful. They can also grow very big, so you do need a big tank

Clown loach grow slow, oscars grow fast so if you get clown loach try not to get the smalllest (altho some oscars get used to their tank mates and dont eat them even when they get big enough to- however other oscars will eat them-best go for bigger clown loach)

No No No...never....Angels may seem big in some setups. But, they aren't even equipped to deal with the smallest Oscar! If you want Oscar "Buddies" go for a Dempsey or a Convict.

I was just thinking Cichlid buddies...but Clown Loaches etc. While compatible...also have to get big themselves....So, unless you have a lot of water...steer clear of Oscars

Hi Black Bug..

1. You do realise that this is a really old thread that no one would be watching anymore dont you?

2. I have an angel fish living in a tank with 7 mature Oscars and he is higher up the pecking order than them. Depends on the fish, but I (and others here) would absolutely say from experience that Angels and Oscars can be good tank mates.

Welcome! What do you have?
