Bought a Jewell the same size of Buster. So far not doing to bad. Buster took a few bites at him but nothing to extreme. Lol all of a sudden Buster is a gravel digging machine! Must be a territorial thing..

BUT their temperaments are....Jewels can be "pocket battleships", really nasty fish, depending on what species you have there.....& what size tank is it?

THOSE WHO REFUSE KNOWLEDGE ARE DOOMED TO FAIL.

WATER CHANGES ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF THIS HOBBY. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE SO OR SIMPLY DON'T FEEL LIKE DOING THEM, RE-HOME YOUR FISH, SELL YOUR AQUARIUM & FIND ANOTHER HOBBY, AS YOU WILL FAIL UTTERLY, COMPLETELY, & MISERABLY.

Ive had jewels before years ago. And yes they are nasty. I wouldn't put one that size in with a full grown oscar. It may work it may not. Sometimes convicts are kept with oscars no problems as well. The last little female convict I had was 1 3/4-2 inches and put a hurting on my two almost adult oscars. She reminded of the jewels I had. I hope it works for you but have a backup plan.

Go do a water change - the solution to pollution is dilution.

Thanks for the hints! So far so good, Buster is very aggressive and so far he is doing all the bullying. The Jewell (Doug) is terrified of him and not once that I have noticed tried to defend himself. Indeed I do have a backup plan if it all goes to Hell lol. Will be keeping a very close eye o them. Thanks all!

Isn't it a 4 foot, 75 gal, Craigfish? If memory serves. . . .

We might need the 8-ball on this mock-up.

ETA: I should add that I owned a Jewel cichlid before and it was a very peaceful fish; curious about the aggressive features; never saw it in mine.
