The minimum we recommend for 2 Oscars, no tankmates is a 6ft 125gal. If you are wanting a monster tank of 300 or more gallons, make it 8ft long

M afraid i wont be able to fit in 8 ft tank... Owing to space constraints... So m down to one oscar and one datnoid in a 300g tank? M askin because i have kept 2 oscars in a 150 g tank till they reached about 12"...

A DAT will grow really slow. your Oscar will be twice as big as the dat. They are nice fish though

Thanks everybody...

I do know that oscars grow very fast... The one i have right now has gone from 2.5" to 8" in less than 4 months in a 60g tank... This happens everytime i get one and then i'm forced to sell it off... Its happened so many times now...

Now that i have the funds to go for a 300g tank, i wanted to get some expert opinions before i start work on the new aquarium...

Does your space restriction limit you to a 5ft length?

Yes... The length cant be more than 5 feet... Thats why i thot to increase the height and width to 3 feet...

And about forward planning... I always wanted a huge tank but didnt have the funds for it till now...

Ok, you can only do what space allows. Have you any thoughts on filtration? You will need lots for over 300gals.

M thinkin of goin for a wet dry filter since i can design it specifically for my tank... And couple of power heads for current flow...
But m also researching other options... All ideas are welcome...
