G6DDS created the topic: Green Phantom L200 Pleco

I have been offered a 4-5 inch Green Phantom Pleco for free, will this be compatible with my 6 inch Oscar?

Oscar has a 100G tank all to himself, filtered by a Fluval FX6.
I know he loves having the tank all to himself but i have heard these Pleco's can sell for good money, free is always good.

You can try it I guess. Make sure you have some wood / rocks ect so your Pleco has somewhere to hide.

Also feed your Pleco at night. Turn out the lights. Wait an hour then chuck Pleco food in. That way the greedy Oscar won't steal it.

Guess i won't know his temperament until i introduce another tank mate?
He is lively enough but my only concern is that he has had the tank to himself since August.

Another thing to do is take your Oscar out into a bucket.

Rearrange your tank decor. Put the Pleco in. Then the Oscar back in.

Moving the stuff around helps to break up the territories he has already established

it's a hit or miss with the time out method- i would just prepare for any aggression when introducing your pleco ... a net + bucket

ben an tehmole have you covered. I forgot to mention that I had a very aggressive o who was around 7is inches when I added the gp pleco. like ben said the additional hiding spots helped I have allot of wood in my tank and it worked out. though I did rehome the Oscar and I can't say for sure what would have happened if it were just him and the pleco but either way I would try it the gp is beautiful

Getting it delivered tomorrow. It's water change day so will take the Oscar out and do a little moving about of the decor.
Will see how it goes.

Thanks

I wouldnt net your Oscar. Risk of injury and stress outweighs the possible pleco surprise, imo. Do your w/c, put plec in and see what happens. I bet there is more of a curiosity thing rather that pure aggression.
