OrcaCichlid created the topic: Jack Dempsey Question?

Has anyone ever kept electric blue jd's with oscars and had success? Also, if my memory serves correct; isn't their temperament less aggressive then that of the normal jd's?
Thanks!

I do apologize for posting this in the wrong section. My laptop is crap and have a ton of tabs in use. Can someone move thiss to the tankmate section?

Hi so not sure I can be of much help but yes EBJD are less aggressive then JD. Right now I have a half in long EBJD in a tank with 2 oscars and they don't bug each other. Granted that's only been for a little bit over a week.

Do know EBJD come with health issues. So they can be hard to care for.

I had an ebjd, it grew too slow, and was too weak to put with Oscars, he was in with FM,s angels and mollies. He got bad eyes and went blind and only lived for about 5 years he might have lived longer hut I got an electrical fault which killed a lot of my fish. Sorry I'm on my tablet and it changes everything I write..

I'm living my life, but not necessarily in the right order :)

If you want a JD and Oscar I would just get a normal JD there are stunning ones out there and not with a high price tag or health issues

+1 I had an ebjd fix for a minute but when you compare them to adult jd's they do t stack up. Reg jd body type looks much better the ebjd always end up loking sort of disformed

Thanks everyone!
I was considering the electrics, but honestly, they don't look nearly as good when they mature imo. I always hear of people running into major aggression problems with the normal jd's; and electric jd would be a better option. You bring up a good point though, as I didn't even think about the growth rate. ex...

EBJD need to be kept in temperatures less than 77F when growing, otherwise they will become deformed
