daddadoo7 created the topic: Oascar tankmates (plecos)

Poseidon suggested this on another thread. Something to help members new and old on selecting pleco tankmates for oscars. Not doing a species info thing that is a job for the possible species owner just a quick reference. Beware plecos are very slow growers. Oscar will quickly out grow them so large specimens should be the way to go. Also these are pics of pleco I find interesting feel free to add any. I will update with more later.

I have an L114 with my Oscar and he is a hider. Very slow growth....

When I have pulled out the decor the little pleco has darted around and my Oscar has given him the eye but I think the sharp barbs all over its body would be some incentive not to eat him. I really like the L600 just due to ultimate size and look but I just could not afford one so thats why I went with the L114

I would like to add

L25
L90
L203
L330
Panaque cochliodon
L137
Hypostomus luteus

But carefully some of this fish have twice the bioload of an Oscar and all kind of Panaques are destructive driftwood eaters. An adult 15 to 22 inches exemplar can grate around 40 to 55 pounds of driftwood. They are beyond dirty so that no cichlid could compare.
