Arnz created the topic: Bristlenoses with an Oscar

I was just wondering how 6 3-4cm bristlenoses would go with my 25cm Tiger Oscar?
Need answers soon as I have a good deal with a friend.

they would almost certainly be eaten you also run the risk of them getting stuck in the oscars throat so i wouldn't try it

Ok, what do you suggest as a tank cleaner?

that heavily depend on tank size but in order to survive with a oscar it is going to need to be about 15 cm or so

and sumpthing to remember is that plecos aren't cleaning fish in fact they are some of the dirtiest fish you can get so keep that in mind when getting one

It is a 400L tank.
Is there any other breed of fish that cleans?

Cleaner of the tank is you. Water changes and substrate vac. Any fish is a contributor to bio load, with respiration and waste production. Nothing will clean more than it messes, especially plecos. Keep a pleco if you like them, have room for one and understand how dirty they are.

Whatever, a "cleaner fish" eats still comes out. They also add more ammonia to the tank. In the end, nitrates build up much faster than if you never had the fish.
