THQ created the topic: 165G: Oscar and Red Terror (Cichalasoma Festae)?

Hi all, tried searching but couldn't find any info.

Visited my LFS today and they have Red Terrors! I have never heard of them before, just Green ones. Googling pics of adults they look extremely attractive.

Anyone have any experience with these and Oscars? Are they similar to Green Terrors in temperament? Was planning to have one of each Oscar, Severum, Green Terror plus Red Terror or Synspilum (see other post) if compatible in a 165G 6x2x2.

Thanks!

I think if you put a red terror in with a green tower and an Oscar you would probably have carnage on your hands. Red terrors are extremely aggressive and I think you would be very unwise to even try keeping one with your Oscar.

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)

OK thank you for your thoughts. Red terror crossed off list!

I have all those fish except the Syn. Female Festae does ok with Oscar, but Oscar is double the size. Severum would suffer. Beware lfs labeling Red Terrors. The pic you posted is a true female, but often lfs have something other than the real deal.

Thanks for the input. I think I would prefer my cichlids to mainly get along, so I'll skip the red terror. Severum appeals to me due to its low aggression and good tank mate reputation with oscar.
