while i was at a friend of a friends house earlier, i noticed he had a small lutino oscar, (very nice looking one)
when i say small i mean about 3 inches...
hi water didnt look to good and the small oscar was all alone, the tank was about 25-30 gallon and i tried to explain to him it wont work and for starters he'll need to take alot more care, AND get a much bigger tank, i think i feaked him out because after 10 mins he asked if i would take the fish because he dont have time for it.
i just couldnt leave the fish with him, so i took the little stunner, i may of took a risk but i put him into my tank (6ft) with my 2 larger oscars (7inches), 1 jack dempsey (4inch) and 3 clown loach's (3inch).
at first i planned for it to be temporary but they all seem to get on really well, he's swimming around with my 2 large oscars and 1 of my large oscars seems to be defending him from the jack.
question is... do you guys think it will last, or is 3 oscars a 100% NO NO?
my misses have fell in love with it, he/she is a real stunner, lots of orange running through it.
if it wont last, how long have i got until things go wrong?

That sucks! Sorry for that. I keep small fish with my Oscar too that are not "tried and true" tankmates (e.g. Convicts, Kenyi, Angelfish). The odd thing is that my Oscar (both when the female was alive) never bother(ed) going after Convict or Kenyi fry or juveniles.

As for three Oscars in the same tank (talking 6 footers)... I believe it's asking for trouble more on the sooner side than the later. That said... Severums are usually safe tankmates but mine got in danger with the two Oscars so I had to remove them. Tank size plays a role here. The more I keep fish I realize that, putting schooling fish out, most fish present a wide variety in their temperaments or should I say "fishonalities".

Good luck with the rescued lutino.

i have on many occasion introduce small fish 1 inch or so into my oscar tank with 10-15 inch oscars and have yet to have a problem. now that being said not all oscars are alike and i might have gotten lucky with mine. but i have never fed them any kind of fish as food so i believe that this is part of the reason they never look at fish as food.
i think you should be carefull with the juvie albino but give it a go. nothing ventured nothing gained.

good luck to you
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

I have never live fed my oscars and never intend to either, i do already have 3 little clown loaches which the oscars dont bother at all, its not the size thats worrying me, its the fact its the 3rd oscar in the tank.
i always advise people not to have more than 2 oscars and now i have 3 lol.
so far s good, after about 5-6 hours, but just worried about the little man in the long run.
