Your oscar will be fine in a 55 gallon tank and will be able to grow full size.
You will find everything about feeding your oscar in this thread. www.oscarfishlover.com/index.php?option=...atid=13&id=26315

As for a pleco, you dont really have to space in you tank for an oscar and a pleco because plecos grow quite large.

Please use lowercase letters...

that being said, we recommend at least 75 gallons for one oscar, but in some cases a 55 can work. It is best to have limited decor in such a small tank, as well. Also, care for "albino" oscars is the same as for normal oscars. I would recommend not adding an algae eater, it is much easier just to give the tank a quick scrub.

I kept my first Oscar in a 55G tank his entire life. He only grew to about 12 inches before he busted out. He grew in to it real quick too. With in about 10 months he was having to make a 3 point turn to get around quickly. I have my baby tiger in a 55G now, but I am planning to move him to a 125G. As far as food, mine gets a variety. I give him Hikari Cichlid Gold, ghost shrimp, brine shrimp, and freeze dried bloodworms.Sometimes I find a grasshoppper for him. Mostly though I just give him the pellets. Keep in mind if you have his tank full of decorations, and feed him live food, he's gonna bang himself up a little getting at it. Mine will go all out into something if he's trying to catch a ghost shrimp.
People call me Donnie. I've got one Tiger O in a 55USG.

not necessarily full grown... juvenile has potential of jumping if given a
gap or any opportunity. that is why we always recommend to have lid cover
to avoid oscar flight.

Yes, even a small oscar can bust out of the tank. I had a 12 incher that shot out of my 55... luckily, i was playing piano two rooms down and came to investigate the "thud" that i had heard... you can guess what caused the "thud"

Reggie, what kind of tank do you have?
i know its a 55 but what shape is it?
oscars prefer lenth over height.
also, as some others have said, plecs grow very large, unless of course you spend ectra money and get something like a phantom plec.
but even then, you'll be better to just give your tank a scrub now and again.
keep us updated mate and good luck.
2 Tiger Oscars, 1 Lutino Oscar, 1 Jack Dempsey, 3 Clown Loaches, 1 Blue Phantom Pleco.

that is common mistake in this hobby. we usually learn the hard way.
during juvenile, you can avoid tank flight by lowering the level of water.
but why do that, the more water for them, the merrier. better have lid
and full of water.
