I'm afraid I don't confess to be an eel expert. However, I did once look into getting a fresh water Moray eel and after a little bit of research decided that it probably wouldn't be a good idea. The requirements for some eels greater a lot differently than your average tropical fish and I believe there is quite a high mortality rate with eels if they are not given the right environment and food so before you look into buying an eel, I would suggest that you find a website dedicated to these fish so that you don't waste your money.

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)

Some of the larger eels such as fire, snow , tyretrack etc may be to shy to be visibly good tank mates a better choice may be the Polyupterus species these look like eels and are a lot livelier, they range in size from 30cm to 80cm they would also be quite good at eating any uneaten oscar food.
