My Texas and Oscar have been together 5 days now and haven't been too bad together with just the occasional flare up. Yesterday the Texas got in the Oscars face more than usual and today I've witnessed the Texas chasing the Oscar around the tank and caught it snapping at the silver dollars. Needless to say I've had to remove it. It's currently in a temporary storage box awaiting the journey to an aquatic shop prepared to take it off my hands in an hour or so time.

I'm gutted as it was a lovely looking fish. I've even been looking at second hand tanks this morning but I just can't afford another right now so it's with regret the Texas has to go.

Anyone considering adding a Texas to their Oscar tank really needs a firm back up plan in place in case things go pear shaped. I've spent a good deal of time phoning round trying to find it a new home but no-one has the space for large fish. I'm having to do a 2hr round trip this evening to get it a new home and won't get anywhere near the price back that I paid for it. In fact all it's worth is one large silver dollar! So I'll be adding another dollar to my shoal of 3.

Sad to hear it didn't work out.
Hope you find a good home for him.
Guess I'm lucky with my LFS taking in the bigger fish if they can't be homed properly.
I don't mean RTC etc. but Oscars and plecos can be rehomed by my LFS.
Good luck.
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!

The same thing happened to me. I had a 2" Texas a 2" Albino Oscar a 2"blood parrot and a 1.5in EBJD in a tank. The Texas tried to run the whole tank. My Blood Parrot wasnt having it. The Texas wouldnt mess with the Blood Parrot but he would mess with the Oscar and EBJD. After About 4 days my Albino Oscar was dead! I took him out immediately and took him to the Fish Store where I traded him for a lovely Tiger Oscar (Roscoe) that i have had for about a month. He has grown about an 1.5in since I got him. I ended getting another Oscar which is a Yellow Tiger Oscar(Roland). I call them Roscoe and Roland. Together I call them Rock-N-Roll. LOl I love my Oscars!
