I was researching possible tankmates for my Oscar and was reading that silver dollars will spawn easily given the right conditions and I was wondering if anyone has had luck this or will the oscar eat up the eggs/spawn. I read that they prefer to be in groups so I was thinking 3-4, just worried it would be too many fish in my tank. (just realized that the tank i bought that was advertised to me as 80g is actually 65, pretty upset about that, teaches me for taking someone's word instead of measuring myself)

I don't think you really got enough room for one Oscar and a shoal of silver dollars in a 65 gallon tank.

I gave my SD's all they neede for reproduction, including floating plants, but all that happened is that the 2 males get frisky and rub against eachother.
And they're not interrested in the females...
Really stupid.
If I had fry, my other fish including my O will eat them.

My dollars have been at it. I have 1 male and 3 females. He chose the biggest female and spent an entire day mating with her. My Oscar is pretty big so I suspect the baby dollars should I get any may survive... until they are big enough for the Oscar to notice them.

Supposedly there'll be massive amounts of eggs!
1male, eh?
That may be the problem in my tank.

My SD's try to breed, they swim next to each other and a egg pops out. The smaller fish in my tank follow then and eat the egss

If you had breeding SD's and an oscar, then when the fry get bigger and start swimming around the oscar would eat them. As SD's are egg scaterrers there is a change the parents might eat the fry too
