Hi everyone...figured i'd ask a quick question before I head to bed (which I should have done awhile ago but this site is addicting! Lol!). I am setting up a 90 gal. tank right now...and that's US Gallons...and was wondering if that is still too small for 2 oscars...the dimensions are 48"x18"x24". I would like to get 2 oscars but wasn't sure if that was a good idea in a 90. I'll be using a Rena Fllstar XP4 filter which should be sufficient but wasn't sure if I should go with smaller tankmates rather than 2 oscars.

Here's a quick answer - I think 90 gallons is fine with two fish.

Seriously, 90gl is a good size for two Oscars. Of course anything bigger is by FAR better, but 90gl is the size tank I was looking for after I got my O and my JD. Just keep up on water maintenance and you should be golden.
If ignorance is bliss, why aren't more people happy?

when they are fully grown things might get a bit tight... but that wont be for a year or so, plenty of time to find a new tank.

Awesome...I really wanted two of them if possible. Was going to get just one but my wife thinks they are cute and wanted to know if she could get one as well! In a year or so we are hoping to buy a new house and then I want a BIG tank so they would eventually go into there.

Upgrades are cool and you're fish will like it.
When you get the new house, when you go to check it out, be sure to tell your wife:
"Now isn't this an excelent room to use as our fishroom?"
A man should have his own fishroom, don't you think?
At least you'll have a hobby that keeps you at home.
Might as well be out drinking with the guys!lol
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!

Should be fine, general consensus is good maintenance and superior filtration.

i got 3 o's 2 big gibicepses and 3 clownloaches in 108 gal. Its all about keeping up with maintenance as got said before. enough filtrage, 2x 40% waterchange a week,
or less, but more times a week... and just keeping it up.

Haha...we both do that now when we move into a new place...plan which rooms will work out great for whatever pet...I usually forget to leave room for me! It's usually not too hard to convince her to get another pet...we are both a little crazy like that! I did catch her looking at my aquarium magazines though the other day so I think i'm getting her hooked!

Shame on you Noddy... sometimes it's the woman who is the fish nut! Is it wrong to consider "drinking with the guys" staying home drinking with your Oscars!?
