Hey everyone...thanks for all your help so far...just had a question about whether this could work or if its a bad idea. I know Oscars will eat crayfish but it says this guy can get up to 12" long and was just curious if an oscar would leave it alone or try and eat it or the other way around...i've always loved crayfish/lobsters and was just curious if it was a possibility or if it would become a quick lunch.

I was either thinking of 2 oscars in the tank or possibly an oscar and a bluegill since those are quite easy to obtain around here...just thought i'd mention it in case that changed things at all...Thanks!

This is something I have never done. A lot of people say that fish are at risk when they sleep if you have anything with claws and pincers in the same tank. Also, in order for crabs/lobsters to grow they need to shed their shell every few weeks. They become extremely vulnerable because they are incredibly soft for a period of time so you would need to provide a really good place for it to hide.

I couldn't possibly tell you whether it will be okay or not, personally, I wouldn't mix the two, stick to fish and if you want to keep lobsters, keep them on their own, or with their own
I may not always be right, but I am always the boss

Thanks for the replies...I was kind of figuring it would be a bad idea...just thought i'd ask and see if it was possible. I used to have a red lobster (crayfish) in my cichlid tank when I was younger and always thought it was cool...especially when it had babies shortly after I got her. Weird thing is all the babies were blue!

Guess now I have an excuse to get another tank! I do have a nice stand for a 55 gallon that is unused at the moment! haha!
