Depends which type of snails you are referring to. I have observed the Oscars eating Malaysian trumpet snails so no doubt they could munch up even a medium-sized snail, after all they have got pretty strong throat teeth. However, I doubt very much if they could do anything to a large apple snail for instance.

not only grows, they can become problem if not properly handled.
in my place, they are already considered pest like plecs

They can thrive very well in an Oscar tank, and may reproduce very quickly if your fish are overfed.
IMO you shouldn't introduce them into your tank, for they may be hard to control, in case your O does not eat them all.
I breed snails for my Puffer but keep them out of the Oscar tank.
I got some snail-eating snails in my communitytank, which do not even get eaten by my loach and do not reproduce quickly.(I haven't seen any young yet)
sorry the article is in dutch, but it's some nice pics.

Some oscars will eat snails if they can. Also watch for snails breeing, they have both sex organs so you only need to for them to breed, you could end up over run with them if your oscar decides not to eat them
I can't get no sleep

I'm going to assume my Oscars ate my snails.... I didn't witness it, but one morning was nothing but an empty shell....... oh well, the shell looks nice laying on the bottom of the tank:) they were good sized - a bit bigger than an olive. My O's are young - about 4 or 5 inches TL.

not trying to split hairs here, but mystery snails are either male or female. infact alot of the aquatic snails are if not all. the land snails are hermaphrodite.

I have a giant apple snail in my tank. Adds a bit of variety and eats things the fish miss. It's bigger than the biggest oscar mouth so no worries about it being eaten.
