strange/different selection of tank mates but I too think it could work out ok as long as you have room/filtration and choose fish of a suitable size.

Black ghost knife fish are fairly timid so you got to create places for it to hide like caves... Should be cool.

Hi everyone, this is an awesome site, thanks.

My tank is 120 gallons, inside dimensions are 58.5in long, 16.5in wide, and 27.5 inches tall.

Ph is 7.6 and temp range is 78-82f

Filter has 600gph running through it, and is mostly biological filtration and is finished off with mechanical fitration, keeping ammonia at 0ppm,nitrite at 0ppm, and nitrate at 25ppm.

Iam currently waiting for my two angels to reach at least half their adult size before I add more tankmates, but i do plan on getting a black ghost knife, and was thinking an oscar.

Putting in hides would be easy.

Also do oscars enjoy being in a planted tank?

Thanks all

with out hassle except that angel becomes too fat and died.

welcome to the site

Just remember that black ghost knife fish can reach pretty big sizes so with an Oscar as well, you will be really at your limit with other fish included.

I wouldn't bother with a planted tank if you intend on keeping Oscars, the chances are they will just rip all the plants to pieces, or uproot them. You also have the added challenge of keeping the plants alive long term, there is a bit more to it when it comes to maintaining plants in an aquarium. Don't waste your money or time, just my opinion

If you really want plants to make your tank looks nice, there are some really fantastic realistic fake looking plants on the market, search around and you'll find them

Just got one more question, when i pick out a young oscar that appears to be healthy , should I treat it with Metronidazole to get rid of any possible HITH parasites.

No, there really is no need to medicate or treat a fish if there is nothing wrong with it.
