so i got 3 Jack Dempseys, and a Senegal Bichir. they are in my empty 55 for the time being.

my camera is seriously acting up... i must have taken 50 pics, and these are the 3 clearest ones.

got a better pic of the bichir this morning with my sisters camera.

yea i woke up and the little fella was floating kinda funny at the surface with a big lump in its gut... rosy red feeder minnow?? id say its safe to say the lil guy is going to do just fine, eating rosy red's on the first night in the tank, off to a better start than most

yeah thats what ive read about them. i made this hood, and the biggest gap between the filtration and the lid is about 1/3 inch. i think i should be okay.

i got a bichir about a month ago, and am enjoying it. between it and the african spotted leaf fish, they clean up 30 ghost shrimp in less than a week.
he also likes neon tetras (accidents, 6 of them ) and the sinking shrimp wafers i give the cory cats.
Please, for my sake, change your oil!

cool. just put it in yesterday evening but so far its ignored flakes, pellets, sinking shrimp pellets, and blood worms. i think i may have a picky eater. seems right at home with some ruby red feeders tho

Nice pics Win! Bichirs are cool looking...do most people have success keeping them with O's...I always thought with their long skinny bodies it would be an easy snack!

im not sure pal, but this one will likely wait to go into the o tank till its a foot longer lol. as it is right now hes about the size of a cigarette lol, one tiny ruby red feeder 1" long and he looks stuffed to cappacity. not even worth the trouble for my big girl to mess with.

on a different page... ive just watched my 3 jd's team up on a single ruby red... and pluck its eyes out... and left it to die... my albino oscar really seemed to enjoy it.
