In my 180g i have 2 silver sharks about 7 inches long. A couple of weeks ago i bought some dried river shrimp, these are quite small. I fed the fish these shrimp last night. I noticed the smaller silver shark had filled his mouth up like oscars do. This is unusual. After an hour the shark was the same so i guessed he got the shrimps stuck in his mouth. I decided to leave it a day and if it is the same i would have to fix the problem. The problem with getting these river shrimp stuck is that they have a shell and obviously this wont rot so the fish could die

It was the same tonight but with a little less hanging out. So I have just netted the shark, layed him on a damp tea towel and held it with another damp tea towel. With a pair of tweezers i pulled out a shrimp, it was much much bigger than the others in the tub. It was a struggle to get it out but i didnt want to force it out and damage the shark. I shall be more careful when feeding these in future to pull out the bigger shrimp and put them in with my oscars.

Sounds a little bit dicey, anyway, glad you got it sorted.

The sharks mouth looks good but not quite right. It seems a little open but then so would mine be if it had been stuck open for 24 hours. The good news is he ate some maggots just now when i fed them

The thing when doing these sort of things is you have to be very careful and quick. You use damp cloths so you dont actually handle the fish directly and to stop them drying out. Obviously you have to be careful you dont damage the fish but you can't hang around or the fish could die.
