I have a 5 inch Albino that doesn't seem very aggressive...I decided to try a second Oscar while my Albino or still young. I read they often bond better when they are little. The new guy is about 3 inches and has a very different personality. He is very food aggressive. The new Oscar follows the Albino constantly. There is some mouthing, rubbing, bumping. No tail slapping or mouth locking. Occasionally the Albino takes a charge at the little guy. Then the new Oscar acts like a little puppy being submissive to a bigger dog. Am I in for trouble in the long run or is this interaction a normal part of figuring their tank out? Is this just frustration on the part of the Albino? Is the new Oscar harassing the Albino? I appreciate any thoughts on the matter. Better for me to make changes now if I need to. Thank you.

They both are still young so i would just observe them. It sounds like they are just sorting out the pecking order and hopefully things will settle down shortly. As long as one oscar isnt getting injured or hiding away all the time i wouldnt worry about it
I can't get no sleep

The answer it: fighting. My little guy's dorsal fin is torn down the meat and he is having a hard time swimming. Looks like some bad damage to his tail. I think I might have to put him down. I have been watching pretty carefully, but i was gone today, and I didn't witness the incident. I have a spare 10 gallon tank i can quick set up as a hospital. I do have antibiotic for my Bettas on hand. Are they safe for Oscars? (Tetracycline and a Sulpha) I will post to the emergency thread...
