I have only a 75 gal. to work w/ and want one Oscar. Would you advise that I have one tank mate such as a Jade Eyed Cichlid, or would the Oscar be perfectly content all by himself?

Oscars will be perfectly okay on their own
I may not always be right, but I am always the boss

I kinda feel like he/she would like a friend too...lol
I don't know if I would like to take a chance on getting another Oscar. Plus I can't see myself getting a bigger tank in the long run, so it's either all by his/her lonesome, or a good tank mate that won't get too large for the space...

I'll have to think it over...

ive two oscars and need a bigger tank once again there happy and healthy as pics show just carnt go wrong with more room seen a 6ftx3ftx3ft in my fish store and he told me hel do it including cabinet for 700 or build me a tank for 400 without cabinet. not sure on glass prices around here or ide build a huge thing to fill the full wall. thats the plan anyway just guna price things up and have alook at the floor see if its capable of holding the weight as the tnaks upstairs. push comes to shove i can reiforce the floor with extra joists or event abit steel

wow, 6x3x3 for 700? that sounds pretty good.

I was wondering if my O would allow a new mate if went from a 55 to a 150, but, I think the easier tank maintenance answered my own question in the negative on that option

Oscars do well on their own and they become more attached to you as you will be their only company but i like to have a friend in there so they have got company when im at work.

sound silly but its tru.

There are lots of smaller cichlids that can be put in with oscars if you want him to have a friend but they will be fine on their own. Oscars can be ok with other oscars but they are happy on their own because it becomes their own territory (no sharing)
