As long as you get fairly large snails they should be okay

I added three snails - in less than a week they were gone..... guess my Oscars had a taste for escargot.

I breed snails for my puffer and they prefer slices of zuchinni.
I got Helena snails in my communitytank, snail-eating snails and they never have gotten eaten and i allready have them over a year.

i have 6 mystery snails in my tank, the oscars have no intrest, and i have never made a point to feed them in particular, they are scavengers, and that is what i keep them for, to help ease tank maintenence, snails are great for getting into nooks and crannies that plecos cant reach. the biggest one now is a bit bigger than a golf ball. snails are excellent for smaller aquaria where keeping a pleco is not practical, altho they would work just as well in a large one, provided you had more of them!

I suppose they add quite a lot to your bioload at that size,
But they're in your biggest tanK?

i originally got them to clean up the mess from my dragon goby in a small 10g, after i rehomed that fish, i put them in my 55, where they stayed quite happy till i recently got the jack dempseys, who liked to bite at their eye stalks, so i put them in my 8 foot tank with the oscars, and so far they have been in there for a few months, and they are all still alive, the oscars dont care about them in the least. and all things add to bioload, but i dont think even 50 snails would have more bioload than one of the large plecos
