TOPIC: What is a good cleaner fish for a couple of Oscars

What is a good cleaner fish for a couple of Oscars 2 years, 2 months ago #83927

I have a little Oscar and will be getting another in a few weeks, In that time I am building a large tank to keep then for the rest of their days(as told by my wife) it will be 1.400 X 0.600 X 0.800 so it will hold about 670 liters. For two Tiger Oscars and a couple of cleaner thats heaps aye? Now whats the best and safest cleaners to get that still look in place with an Oscar. I would like to keep the South Americain theam going. any ideas?

Silver Dollars are excellent companions for Oscars, and they will snag some of the food b4 it gets to the gravel, but for cleaning, nope. A pleco is a nice addition, but I've never seen one actually clean anything I'd go with lg Bala Sharks....They seek out food in the rocks and gravel and are lg enough to coexist w/o threatening the Oscars into attacking.

Do you have a sand bottom? If so a couple of earth eaters or geophagus types will clean the bottom of the tank. They like to sift through sand as they search for food. They are many types with many different colors.

Geo's are excellent! Then again they get large too! And, being Cichlids, I'm not sure they wouldn't want some top food too. Inviting a challenge of who gets to eat what.
