ok i have a 2 40 litre jewl tank with a 404 fluval filter i have 1 oscar 2 silver sharks 1 severum and a fire ell and a couple of small plecs

Re: overstocked? 2 years, 2 months ago #85127

It depends on the size of the fish. I would get another filter on there if I was you. Your fish will make alot of waste and if 1 filter fails you have another to keep you going till the other one is fixed. 240 liters is about 60 gallons so you will need to upgrade, sooner is always better than later.

i know its a dumb question but what will happen if i dont

Re: overstocked? 2 years, 2 months ago #85132

I would suggest Keeping your oscar and getting rid of the rest. This would include the plecs as if you don't know what type then you could be in trouble e.g royal plec grows to 24in. Replace the plecs with something you know the size of when fully grown. Ask at your local shop they should be able to help and advise on what they have in store.

Your oscar will be great fun and bring years of joy if you look after him.

how long dose it take for an oscar to get fully grown and how big is that

Re: overstocked? 2 years, 2 months ago #85136

Your Oscar will grow rapidly about 1 inch a month at about 7in they slow abit by a year about 10inch or so. This is dependant on you feeding him decent foods and looking after him. As for how big will he get you can expect anything from 12in and up
