170 gals.... a couple of SD is acceptable or few angel fishes.
but some people want those fishes that usually hides like plecs,
or small variety catfish.

i was thinking about them, but the local shops dont have any big enough. oscars would surely get them

but be careful with the kind of plecs...some specie can grew huge like
12 inches in a year time....

the shop down the road had strange plecs... no stipes, huge scales (
looked like some sort of dinosaur) i might see if i can find a pic....
i havent seen anywhere near me that has angelfish that big. thats the basic rule yeah? they have to be around the same size as the oscars?

in my case, i introduce a 2" angel fish when oscar is about 6". so far
no issues encounter....though i lost the angel fish due to too much fat.
they take down all left over of oscar...

Re:compatible tankmates 2 years, 2 months ago #86037

hahahahaha
that'd be a heck load!
i may try that. its just i had alot of people say "it must be same size or bigger than the oscars"
so i was looking around and struggling to find anything selling (except pleco's) same size.

i put a plec in with my 2 oscars purely to keep the tank clean, recently I dont feed him algae pellets just let him earn his keep cleaning my tank, he also picks off any left over pellets, which is a bonus.. in a 6 fot tank you could get a common plec, they grow big but i think you easily have the room...

i have 3 small clown loaches with mine, the oscars hassle them from time to time but nothing major, and they could eat them if they wanted to (and were quick enough to catch them lol)
