One of our most active members has got a Gar and I don't think he has any problems keeping it with his Oscars, although I believe it will munch on any small fish that gets the chance to eat so you have got to be very sensible keeping these fish. I'm sure that you will hear from him shortly.

Yes, if your tank has a big enough footprint.
I've seen the combo in many other tanks.
At least 6'x2'x2'(2,5 wide is even better)

The longnoses spook easier than the Floridas, though.
I say Florida's for 99% of all Gars sold as spotted are actually Florida.
Longnose feeding can be more of a pain for their longnose makes it harder to fit preyfish into their mouth.

edit: i don't know if you plan on keeping the longnoses with the oscars, if you do their skittyness may have them run into the walls of your tank and do damage to their beaks and spines.Feeding will be an even bigger problem, with hungry o's.
Florida are a better option, for they're more tough and spook less easily, imo.

Yeah , i remember the pond.
that will make a big difference, for the fish will less likely bump into the walls!

I'd say if they're small it could work, although a timid Gar may have a hard time competing for food.
Here's the combo in a vid:
