While the FAQ's page states that catfish can be good with oscars, my experience has taught me otherwise. I bought an oscar about two days ago and I woke up this morning with no oscar in the tank and my catfish looks quite a bit bigger than normal. I've heard oscars are notorious for having big eye's. I'm guessing the Oscar tried to start something with my catfish and my catfish retaliated by straight up eating the bully. Who knows how it went down. But now I'm short an oscar and I've got a big catfish in my tank. Bummer dude...

How big was your Oscar? Also, what type of catfish was it? I don't think there's anything wrong with mixing catfish and Oscar together. However, it's always a good idea to check what type of fish you have got, how big they can get, how aggressive they are, and what sort of food they eat.

In a general rule of thumb in the fishy world. If a little fishy can fit into a big fishy's mouth there is a high probability that it will go.... IN IT.
But as I said Mathias sorry to hear that.
Guess he wont be getting fed for a while now.... lol

If it fits the mouth, it will be considered food.
Here's an example:

Oscars are easy food unless there is no size difference, but with the Catfish's growthrate, it's allways a risk.
Sorry bout your fish.
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!
