Yesterday I posted about my green terror attacking my oscar. After removing the GT, the firemouth decided it would have a go at my poor oscar as well. So, I have taken the GT and the firemouth back to the store. Now I have in my 95 gallon 6 tiger barbs and my little O, who I am medicating with melafix.

Once the medication is finished and the tank is fully cycled I will want to get him some more tank mates.

Can you guys please tell me your thoughts on having either tinfoil barbs or bala sharks with my O? I realize that both these species grow too large sizes and I am willing to upgrade to a larger one in the future so please don’t comment on overcrowding or what not. All I wish to know is the compatability of tinfoil barbs and bala sharks with Oscars.

Thank you,

Harry

Keep in mind that Oscars are going to grow MUCH faster than Balas...

So that ratio is only accurate for about 10 minutes!

Just a short mention.
I have 3 SD's with my O as well as a pleco and 2 clown loaches.
Also I have put my last crayfish in this tank.
You may think OH NO!!! But wait

The Oscar has accepted the cray quite well - I was happily surprised.
2 of the Silver Dollars are new and my O accepted them very well too.

But you are asking about Balas and I am sorry I don't know what they are at all. I'm interested in learning as I am picking up an 8 ft tank on Sunday and not sure what to put in it at this stage.

Good luck with your Tank mates. Its easy but not lol

Balas are silver sharks..

They are schooling fish that look like sharks (but they arnt technically)

they grow two about 30 cms and sometimes make clicking noises to communicate with each other

they are pretty cool
