Hey guys this is what i have planned for my tank stocking..

It is a 95 gallon tank (will upgade in the future if needed)

I already have 6 tiger barbs and a small oscar.

I am planning on adding 2 pictus catfish, 3 silver dollars, 8 giant danios and a sailfin pleco. All new additions will be larger than the oscars current size.

Do you guys think this is a good combination of fish?

Cheers, Matt

i think the combo sounds fine, allthough i got no idea about giant danio's.
The tiger barbs may be oscar food if the oscar grows.
Point of concern is the Sailfin pleco, that will deffo outgrow your tank and need a large tank, preferably 7 foot+ when adult...
but that may take some years.
If you want your fish at full potential, start looking for an upgrade, o's and sailfins grow fast.

i am moving house in about a year so i was thinking i would hold of until then before i get a larger tank? They will be fine until then wont they??

I think giant danios grow to about 8cm or so and my local aquarium provider tells me they are much too fast for the oscar to catch. They are cheap anyway so i think its worth a go.

What do you think the chances of the silver dollars eating my anubias plants are?

With proper filtration and regular waterchanges, you'll be fine for some time.
lol, i got 6 sd's and i was told they'd eat any plants.
Well, let me tell you those fish do eat ANYTHING and EVERYTHING, but never touched my plants. Oscars pellets, worms of any kind, bugs, zuchinni....
They even steal the feederfish intended for my gar.
So it's not a fact that they will eat your plants, but they may just as well.

I almost sure that the silver dollars will eat ur anubias. I remember that i had to remove my silver dollar from my community tropical fish aquarium coz it was eating the anubias and some other plants. Silver are very good fish, they will never touch other fish but might be dangerous to other fishes coz sometimes they swim very very fast and can damage other fish like danios.
Your oscar might get very aggresive when it grows coz it will lack space for his territory.

Hi, iam going to say, I would advise against keeping pictus with oscar's, they have these terrible spines, one under each of there fins and dorsal, they are so sharp and like bone, with a razored end they stick fast, i had four beautiful adult pictus, and would never have dremt of keeping them with my oscars, problem is they would get stuck fast if eaten.

A good oscar tank mate and something a little different is senegal birchir / hoplo catfish, silver dollars/ tinfoil barbs/silver bala sharks/t barbs/channa but only some species if you can get hold of them, depending what country your in,alot they are banned..All the others ive said ive kept them with my oscars fine..
150us gallon tank....2 tiger oscars,3 redtail tinfoil barbs,2 silver sharks,1 senegal birchir,1 gibbicep,1 common plec,1 hoplo catfish,

2.5ft breeding tank, pair of bristlenose plecs,100s of fry

unless a member of their own school becomes sick. Then they may act like Piranha's and kill and eat the sick mate...
They are still related to P's.

Wow,thks for telling,i didn't know that about silver dollars,i always though they were very docile fish that didn't care about other fish that are bigger or same size as them(though they eat smaller fishes)
