TOPIC: My O

My O 4 years, 3 months ago #10080

Well, took some pictures earlier, thought I would share. The tank is pretty stripped down right now. Thought since the tank is a 55, he would appreciate the room and seeing out of it more than I would appreciate the plants and backgrounds. I really want to get a bigger tank and set it up nice like most of you all have

Still streaks after wiping down really well I just can't win. A battle scar from when he tangled with the filter box.

OFL, if you feel the picture is good enough (streaks and all) for the sensory pits, go ahead. I have others I have to scour my hard drive for that show them as good or better.

Well, that's my oscar. I am guessing he is really a she, but, I will let the O mature a bit more before posting an under shot. Most of them so far have had a oO look to them, so I take it my oscar is a female, with no guarantee I could post one of those later I suppose

Thanks all.

I have had him for about 11 months, and was approx. 1.5" when I got him. I keep forgetting that last part, because he grew to almost 3" the first month in my care.

I really think he is a she ...

here is a clear picture just in case it is defined enough to tell ...

Love my O either way, just kinda want to start referring to it by the proper gender

Edit: Oh, btw, these and the ones above are clickable thumbnails ... so if you care to, you can make the pictures much bigger I can barely see these on my screen

Fantastis colours in your O, I'm a semi pro wedding photographer, try less or no light in back ground, taking photo on an angle to the glass and make sure there is no reflection from tv etc. Have seen that too many times. When looking thru your view finder, adjust you eye's focus. E.G don't look at subject but what's around it.

P.S Thanks for the tip's about my fighting O's the other day, seem's to of stopped for now.

Here is a photo from a month or so ago ... shows the green pattern he displays very little of most of the time (besides when sleeping or a bit anxious).

well, I have the tank lights on, and the flash on, but other than that, usually no other light sources in the room, maybe the computer monitor, but it doesn't face the tank directly.

I have been trying different angles as well as varying distances.

Starting to wonder if lack of a background and decor in the tank might enhance my problems

I do use a few years old Kodak EasyShare Z600 or something to that effect, 4 MegaPixel.

I just need to be a better window washer Getting a tripod would probably help a little as well

Now worries, they are good enough for me, just not up to the quality I wish they could be.

Thank you kindly.

I think I already notice more orange on him. He had quite the appetite today.

man, he is almost as wide as he was long when I brought him home. I noticed tonight just how much he has filled out! I would say a good two fingers wide.

Hi Kenshin,

Nice close up photos. I have to find my digital camera. Your O looks really nice. I am taking the heads up on the 55 gallon fish tank. You are so right that before you put in a few plants or decorations, the poor fish has no where to swim. I guess it's a 75 or 90 gallon.

I put some small fake plants in mine to give him cover with out overwhelming the tank. He likes his privacy when he is not looking for food.

Thanks for the sharing!
