This is what happened the first time my O saw himself in the mirror!!!

Mine has done that to plants, and randomly at the glass (not sure if he sees his reflection or just releasing pent up aggression).

I watched a person do that at an LFS with an O that was from an account they lost. It was very aggressive towards the guy when he went face to face with the O.

I, personally, can never stop being amazed at how large their mouths are. When I feed mine and he sucks in a pellet ... then think about how he isn't full grown. I cannot even imagine when he gets around another 6" on him!


It is great that you caught such a good picture with the mouth wide open The only time I see my O's tongue is when he is spitting out gravel or food

he is just sizing up the intruder in the reflection give him sum time and he will get over it

yeah ive tried many a time to get a picture of the open mouth but hes having none of it. the female has now started to stick up for me. as he attacks me when i look in she then gives him a open mouth nudge. atleast shes stiking up for herself now and not just takin abuse

and im not to sure that hel stop mine still does it and ive known him doi it for 7 month now

My oscar pateintly follows my wife whenever she is near his tank. As soon as she is facing him he puffs up and mock attacks her.
