hubby John was observing his pets this evening and called me over "babe come here quick what's that in the tank?" i rushed over to find this little darling! we believe our green terrors are now proud parents! we fortunately have a fry catchment which the little baby is housed in. he/shes so cute! wonder if we will get more little darlings! their parents have been nesting for about 2 weeks now

we took the 2 zebra cichlids out of the tank because they must have eaten the rest, cuz i saw a little tail from one of my rose nose neons hangin out of his mouth (which was accidentally transferred to the large community tank)

ty nicki, im going to buy some brine for him to eat tomorrow. i hope he lives! if the brine is too big what else should i feed him? really small flakes?

you can grind some flakes or go to petsmart and buy fry food... it is basically a powder... But crushed flakes and pellets work too!

well we now have a few hundred babies at the bottom of our tank with mum and dad dilligently watching out for them. we managed to siphon some into our fry catchment but the mum was getting too stressed out and was attacking the hose! theyre so damn cute!

Congratulations on the babies, they are great fun. We are on our third lot of convict fry this year. Only thing is the convicts start laying more eggs as soon as the fry are about 3mm long. Then they eat the previous batch while chasing them away from the eggs.

So far we saved 3 from the first batch and 9 from the second. Round three has hundreds of the little fellas. I am going to have to think about splitting them up as they are horny little blighters.

Convicts breed like rabbits. When i had a go at them a long time ago i used to 'rub' the new eggs away, that way they still look after the babies. If you grow on the babies you will end up with 3 or 4 tanks and have tons of baby cons that will need rehoming!

Just a note to let you all know mum, dad and babies are going swimmingly! theyre little dots with eyes! so cute! i have to go to bed cuz im buggered right now cuz its 3:24am! but ill get some pics on my photo bucket tomorrow
