So everyone knows I feed my guys feeders. And everyone knows you shouldn't feed your fish more than they can eat in 3 minutes. I bought 36 Rosey Reds yesterday. This is only 40 seconds of video... but they were all gone in 2 minutes 40 seconds !



As the subject line said... you shouldn't have watched if you are against feeders - if you did, please don't lecture me. Thank you for watching though!

i do give my fishes feeders too...especially the arowana...
and i love to watch the big fishes case the feeders...
sometimes, i give them live shrimps...

Great vid, it's a fish eat fish world. I have given mine live ones in the past but my daughter gives me such a hard time...last time I caved and kept the feeders in their own tank...magically they dissapeared a few at a time each day..must have been flying fish..until there were none left.... but we never found the corpses, funny that???

The kids watch the tank yelling at the little fish to watch out and there is always lots of oohs and ahhs when they get crunched. I probably won't do it again because I am sure that they will tell on me in therapy when they are older.

Anyway, the Oscars always love a moving feast.

I hate to see fish suffer but your fish clean up so thoroughly, the feeders don't know what hit them!

I felt sorry for any survivors in my tank that would be hiding in my plants for several days.
And my Gar is not used to catching his own food, and he'll take ages before he gets the feeders.

When i got my gar, i bought him 5 fat swordtails, and my oscar ate 4 of them at a time.
But the Gar didn't eat yet.
Until the next day, believe it or not, the oscar came up to the remaining swordtail, grabbed him with his mouth and spat him out unconciously, but real close to the gar.
The gar immediately grabbed the floating fish, and it truely looked like the oscar was helping the gar out!

Nowadays i keep the guppies to get my plants growing fast, so i can breed snails in their tanks for my GSP's .

Noddy, there usually aren't any survivors. Like I said, over in less than 3 minutes. And no one suffers, it is over before they can wiggle a fin.

Staffie, we could buy much bigger ones for Red but this way all 3 get to eat live ones.

we live in a world of "only the strong survives". and in the wild small slow fish get eaten by larger quick fish. just like we eat chicken and beef for dinner. I have no problem with fish eating feeders...as long as their is no diseases.
